The newest game in the Grid series has a release date, and it’s the first since Electronic Arts bought creator Codemasters earlier this year. Grid Legends will be released on February 25th on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
In July, Codemasters announced the game at EA Play Live. The story mode in Grid Legends is based on the Netflix docuseries Formula 1: Drive to Survive. It includes live-action performances shot using the same virtual set technology used in The Mandalorian.
In Career mode, you’ll be able to drive in more than 100 vehicles and compete in more than 250 events. The Drift and Elimination modes are back, and players may try out a new mode called Electric Boost as well as a race creator. Cross-platform multiplayer is supported, and Codemasters claims that you’ll be able to race online after “three short button taps,” with the action starting nearly immediately after selecting a race.
Grid Legends joins a slew of significant releases scheduled for February. It will be released on the same day as Elden Ring and shortly after Dying Light 2, Horizon: Forbidden West, Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, and Sifu, among others. Although Grid Legends will not be competing with any major racing games in February, another heavy hitter, Gran Turismo 7, will be available just one week later.
Meanwhile, Codemasters has released the first gameplay trailer for Grid Legends. The 17-minute video features street racing in the rain, as well as an elimination race and a large rig in action.
